Favorite Homebrew Recipes
My father (the chemistry professor) has developed and tweaked his own recipe for a German red ale and has attained beer perfection with this beauty.
These are some of my other favorites that I've made in the past. You'll probably notice that I'm a fan of stouts and "big beers" with high original gravities.
First Irish Stout: The first beer I ever homebrewed.
Second Irish Stout: The second, and best, stout that I've made.
Third Irish Stout: My first full-mash stout. Turned out quite drinkable.
8-Ball Stout: Not a classic stout; much heavier and maltier. I made it out of leftovers and added some homegrown hops.
Helles Monster Mash Munich: My first half-mash. Turned out pretty well.
Reel Melomel: Not beer, but a form of mead with fruit. This was something special to drink, almost like a fine wine.
Robin Hood's Merry Mead: It was best after it had aged for a couple of years.
Winterspice Christmas Ale: Not for the fainthearted or sensitive palate.
Mango Barkshack Ginger Mead: My go at Papazian's classic Barkshack. Mmmmm...
Hunig Ealu: My first honey ale. It was harsh in the first month, but very nice by twelve months in the bottle.
Oktoberfest: Not bad.
Scottish Export: A full mash that wasn't too bad.
Wicked Clone: I no longer recall where I found this posted. It may have been on the Homebrew Digest e-mail group. I've had the text file for over 10 years, and I'm posting it verbatim. As the name implies, it's a clone of a favorite ale of many hopheads.
